Test Audience feedback
Once our team had created the first part of our film, we then asked our class to view it and fill out a sheet of what they thought the genre was and what was successful and the improvements we should consider.
Everyone said our opening falls into thriller/horror genre which is what we were aiming for.
Here are the criticisms in which we have worked on to try and improve our opening:

Music changes
Our group originally wanted to play classical music over the top of the beginning section of our opening. However, after experimenting and researching into different horror opening and horror music, we decided that an industrial mixtures of high and low tones would make the scene more atmospheric and scary. We made more music on the Music computers at school and this went well as it gives the opening a more eerie approach and makes it scarier.

Actor Changes
Due to the unavailability of Gavin Bruce (Dad) and Thierry Zimmerman (Emily) we had to adjust our story and make changes to the actors. Colette Redgrave (Mum) is now a single mum and that was the reason for the move. Our group thinks this is a better decision anyway because it makes the actress more vulnerable to what is going to happen later on in the film. Our new actress for Emily is called Abigail Hulme, a student from Weald who fits the character description perfectly!

Filming Equipment
For filming we chose to use a Cannon DSLR this was down to many reason which I will now explain: the canon has a swivelling vari-angle LCD screens make it easier to compose shots at awkward angles and improves handling when shooting movies. it’s with movie recording that this system excels, offering smooth, continuous autofocus.
Opening Inspiration
These are a few of the many film examples that carry the same theme and atmosphere that we are intending to create in our opening scene of Hextall Court.

We wanted to record our own version of Venetian Gondola by Ignaz Friedman, which is our chosen piece of music in our opening scene, to abide by the copyright rules. We asked the music teacher at our school, Miss Lonnborg, and she played the song on piano whilst we recorded it. We are looking to use it within the beginning of our film to juxa-position the erry opening, the panning shots of the house and the hanging of the the girl.
